Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools Registration 2023-2024. Grades 4 - 8. Online

MathClub hosts MOEMS Math Olympiads and invites students in grades 4 through 8 to participate in five online events throughout the 2023-2024 school year.

MOEMS is one of the most influential and fun-filled math competition programs in the United States and throughout the world, with over 120,000 students from every state and 39 countries participating. The objectives of MOEMS® are to teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems, and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity.

Date and Time

  • Grades 4 - 8:
    • Olympiad 1: Dec 8, 2023, 6 PM PST (30 min online)
    • Olympiad 2: Dec 15, 2023, 6 PM PST (30 min online)
    • Olympiad 3: Jan 19, 2024, 6 PM PST (30 min online)
    • Olympiad 4: Feb 15, 2024, 6 PM PST (30 min online)
    • Olympiad 5: Mar 29, 2024, 6 PM PST (30 min online)

Students in grade 3 and below are eligible to participate in the Elementary Division.

How to participate

  • Please, make sure that your student is a member of MathClub and has an active MathClub Exercises subscription, The subscription costs $50 per month and includes 2 sets of exercises per week, featuring authentic problems from previous math contests along with a friendly AI agent who can answer students' questions, provide feedback and give hints.

  • Complete the MOEMS registration form for your student and pay the registration fee:
    • $25 for 1 MOEMS Olympiad event
    • $80 for all 4 MOEMS Olympiad events

Contests Regulations

MathClub organizes MOEMS math contests for elementary and middle school students. There are several divisions: Elementary Division for grades 4 and below, Elementary Division for grades 5 and 6, Middle School Division for grades 6, 7, and 8. Students in grade 3 and below are eligible to participate in the Elementary Division.

  • There are five contest events held from December through March.
  • Each contest consists of five non-routine problems that must be solved within 30 minutes.
  • Students work individually, earning 1 point for each correct answer.
  • The use of calculators, rulers, graph paper, and other aids or resources is not permitted.
  • Problems that introduce more advanced concepts will include all the necessary definitions.
  • The MOEMS Online contest is conducted simultaneously for all students via an online meeting; the link for this will be shared post-registration.
  • After registering, you will receive practice materials, which include 50 problems and their detailed solutions from previous MOEMS Olympiads.

Awards

  • Certificates for all participating students.
  • One medal for the Highest Individual Scorer.
  • Award patches for approximately 50% of the top participants. Nationally, half of all students earn at least one award - a patch, pin, medallion, or trophy.
  • Silver pins for the top 10% of scorers.
  • Gold pins for the top 2% of all scorers.
  • The George Lenchner Medallion for a perfect score.
