Noetic Learning Online Math Contest Registration, Spring 2024, Grades 1-8
MathClub warmly invites you to participate in the Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) for Spring 2024!
The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is one of the largest math contests in the United States for elementary and middle school students. Every year, over 30,000 students nationwide participate, competing against each other both online and offline.
The contest is designed to enhance students' problem-solving skills and foster a love for mathematics. In the online version of the contest, students are tasked with solving 20 problems independently within a 50-minute timeframe.
Please note that this contest is available only for students in grades 1 through 8.

How to participate
- Please, make sure that your student has an active MathClub Exercises subscription. For $50 per month, the subscription provides you with two sets of practice exercises every week, featuring authentic problems from previous math contests.
- Please, complete the Noetic Learning Math Contest registration form for your student and pay the NLMC $25 registration fee. Complete the payment during the registration process.
We'll send you the details (login, links, and rules) within 24 hours after registration.
What Is Included

Important Dates
- March 20: Registration Closes at 8:00 PM PST. Don't miss the deadline!

- May 6: Results Day! Check back to see how you did!
- May 16: Award Distribution Begins. Celebrate your hard work and achievements!
Online Test Device/Browser Requirements
- A computer (Windows OS, Mac OS, or Chrome OS).
- An up-to-date version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari.
- High-speed internet access.
Online Test Format
Length: Students will be given 50 minutes to solve 20 problems. The system will provide students with a warning message when there are 10 minutes remaining and another when there are 5 minutes remaining. The test will be automatically submitted when time runs out or when the student manually clicks the 'Submit' button.
Answer formats: For free-response answers, please only enter numerical values (e.g., 2, 6.5, 100, -78.2) as answers."
Rules:
- Students should NOT use calculators, smartphones, or internet resources.
- Students should work independently and NOT communicate with anyone in any way during the test.
- Proctors should NOT answer any questions regarding the test content.
What-if Scenarios
- A student accidentally logs off/exits the browser - The student should immediately log back in. The test will be saved, but the system timer will continue to run.
- A student encounters hardware/software/internet problems - The student should promptly log back in using a different computer. The test will be saved, but the system timer will continue to run.
- A student accidentally starts the test - If a student inadvertently clicks the 'start' button on the student portal, the system will not initiate the test immediately. Instead, it will direct the student to a 'staging' area for 30 seconds before the actual test commencement. This 30-second window allows the student to reconsider starting the test. Once the test begins, it should be completed within the allocated 50 minutes.
